    Vasil's civic engagement

Vasil was born on August 11, 1990, in the Republic of Belarus.

After graduating from the Belarusian Military Academy in 2014, Vasil served as an officer in the Belarusian Armed Forces. He left military service in 2016 and transitioned to the IT sector as a project manager.

In 2020, he joined the protest movement in Belarus against the unfair presidential election results, actively participated in rallies and marches. In November 2020, he was detained for ten days. Facing the threat of re-arrest, he fled to Ukraine in early 2021, settling with his family in Lviv.

At the onset of Russia's full-scale aggression against Ukraine in February 2022, Vasil joined the Belarusian Kastus Kalinouski Regiment which operates within the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

He served as deputy commander of the Volat Battalion and participated in combat operations in the Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Luhansk regions.

For his service, he was awarded the Ukraine Above All medal. He was also wounded while fighting for Ukraine. After six months of service, due to his injury and a conflict with the regiment's leadership, he resigned from the Ukrainian army in the summer of 2022 and moved to Lithuania, where his wife and daughter were living at the time.

He is also a member of the Coordination Council of Belarus, the representative body of the Belarusian democratic forces in exile.

He is also a co-founder of the Belarusian Veterans' Association, which supports Belarusian veterans of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
